Breastfeeding support

Breastfeeding is a learned skill between you and your baby—and it shouldn’t be painful. But sometimes, things don’t go to plan. It’s not uncommon for mums to face challenges, especially in the early days.

If you’re struggling, you’re not alone. Many breastfeeding issues can be resolved with the right support.

The Australian Infant Feeding Guidelines recommend exclusive breastfeeding, but also acknowledge that any breastfeeding is beneficial. For some families, mixed feeding (breast and formula) may be the most suitable approach.

Milk production relies on frequent and effective milk removal. Introducing bottles or reducing breastfeeds can decrease your supply. While it is possible to re-establish breastfeeding (re-lactation), it is challenging—so early support is essential.

If you're currently breastfeeding and facing challenges, reaching out for help as soon as possible can make a real difference. With the right knowledge and support, many issues can be addressed, and a tailored plan can help guide your feeding journey.
